Meme and Papa Barrett

Yesterday, my parents drove in from Throckmorton to visit Barrett and "babysit" while Matt and I attended the MAVS game with friends. Although we live miles apart, Barrett knows my parents faces and voices well, so he wasn't even phased when we left for the night.

As my parents were leaving, Barrett kept holding out his arms to both of them. I really think he was ready to go with them, instead of stay with us!

No...he isn't crying. This is a new face that he makes. I don't know who exactly that he is imitating.

9 months

It's been a while since my last entry. I apologize.
We did have our 9 month checkup, and NO SHOTS! Yipee!!!
weight - 24 lbs 3 oz
height - 31 inches long
We had a healthy report and our latest challenge is introducing him to table food.
Everything else is going great! I couldn't ask for more.
Here are a few other things.........
-eating stage 2 and 3 baby foods (some table foods like mash potatoes, spaghetti Os, lunch meat)
-crawling everywhere...and with speed
-pulling up
-beginning to squat
-takes little steps with our assistance
-loves banging things together
-opening and closing doors
-drinks out of a cup
-smiles and recognizes words (he will look in the direction of the light and certain toys)
-has little quite conversations with his toys (I'm hoping this is a sign of a good imagination)
-pulls out the night light from the wall
-loves dogs (laughs out loud at them)

-reponds to people when they talk to him on the phone
-rubs his ear when he is sleepy
-favorite toys (door stoppers, unfolded laundry, laundry basket, balls, tupperware, night light, hammers, and remotes)

Two short stories about Barrett
#1. When he is sleepy he will start playing with his ears. I can put him in his bed, give him his pacifier (which he will grab from my hands and put directly into his mouth), give him a little blanket, and he will lay down. It's really that easy. Ms. Sherry helped to train him! I still rock him at night though. That's extra time for Matt and I to cuddle with him. I dread the day he is too old to rock.
#2. Barrett has started a new expression. He wrinkles up his nose and opens his mouth. It's the cutest thing ever. In pictures, it might seem as though he is mad, but it's the first step to a huge grin.

Trim Time

Props go to my sister-in-law who cut Barrett's hair tonight. He was a great little customer and she did a fantastic job not cutting off his ears. ha ha

Seriously, I couldn't have done it myself, and luckily there were plenty things to keep Barrett's attention while she cut.
We just wanted a little trim around his ears because his hair was starting to hang over them.

While cutting, cousin Lauren collected the ringlets for me to keep in his baby book.
Soon, he will need an actual cut (all over). We're going to need many more things to keep him occupied if we plan on being successful.

V-Day Party

Saturday, we had our monthly get together (theme: Valentine's Party) with the girls. Yes...I'm fully aware that Barrett needs some boy friends, but he doesn't seem to mind all the attention he gets from all his little GIRL friends.
We had a great time and the snacks were wonderful. Barrett didn't get or give any kisses, but he and Ella did manage to exchange their pacifiers with one another. Oh my!!!

Valentine's Craft

Barrett and I worked on his first Valentine's box for this upcoming Saturday's party (with all his girlfriends).

Along with that, he helped me fill out my Valentine cards to my students, family, and friends.
He even wrote in some of them. What a great little helper.

I'm afraid to say, by the time I started baking cookies, he was fast asleep (probably a good thing considering how much he likes to beat on the oven doors). Whew!

Good Times

I must say that feeding Barrett his veggies isn't always the most pleasant part of our day. We go through squealing, shaking our head, and refusing to open our mouth.

Since that seems to be the case lately, I have to spice things up a bit in order for Barrett to smile (open his mouth) or laugh (open his mouth).
Dinner time has now become one of our favorites. He certainly enjoys all the entertainment. Especially when Matt gets home and joins in on the fun.
Hey, we'll do whatever it takes to get this guy to eat his veggies!!!!

Jump-aroo

Lately, Barrett enjoys his Horsey jumparoo. Today he seemed to be having fun (until I tried to take the pacifier out of his mouth). He wasn't very pleased about that.
Come to find out, he was just exhausted from the day.
Moments later, I noticed it was really quite in the living room. I found him passed out. Funny thing about it is when I went to get him out of the seat, he immediately started to kind of jump again (out of reaction). Poor little guy. He's slept for a good hour + after I moved him to his crib.
