Weekend in Throckmorton

Barrett and I took a weekend get-a-way to Throckmorton this past weekend. Unfortunately, his Meme (my Mom) was sick. Therefore, he didn't get much snuggle time with her. We tried to stay outside or at my sister's house to let her get plenty of rest.
My sister, neices, and dad (Papa Barrett) had an exciting Saturday filled with all kinds of activities. (picnic, cars in the dirt, jumping on the trampoline, riding Papa's 4-wheeler, entertaining ourselves with Karlee's Barbie house, swimming in the Aunt Brandi's hot tub, and grilling hot dogs for supper).
It was nice to get out of the "city" and back into the country lifestyle for a while.

Winter Break!

Cold weather means a good, warm hat, a coat, and our friend Mr. Polar Bear!!!

I guess we might as well call it a Winter Break (although it's not officially called that). Four entire days without school. Barrett and I enjoyed our time together by inventing our own car "race-track / bridge. I'm telling you...Barrett has one creative (redneck) Momma! haha Hey...it's whatever works! Can you tell what our race-track is made of? Look closely. It's part of my blinds.
Thursday, we were able to sneak a play date with our friends Jamie and Wyatt. We tested out the roads between here and the mall. Since they weren't so bad, we loaded up the car seats and headed toward Collin Creek Mall for a little run around / playtime. The mall was bare! No one was there, so we just let the boys run wild. We road the choo-choo train, played on the indoor equipment, ate at the food court, threatened the boys with the security / mall cops, and made our way up and down the escalators and elevators. Now that's FUN..when you've been stuck indoors for 3 solid days!!!

Friday brought S N O W...which was a lot of fun. There is nothing like waking up to a beautiful winter wonderland. It was beautiful.

And last but not least...a family dinner date to our favorite Mexican food place, La Hacienda!!! Of course we had to wait until the roads were clear and most of the ice/snow had melted!!! Ahhhhh, how nice it was to see the sunshine and get out of the house.
Barrett obviously likes Mexican food because of the tortillas!!!

Icy Weekdays

Wow...this doesn't usually happen in Texas, but for the past two days, the temperatures have been in the teens and ice everywhere. We woke up to a thunderstorm/ice storm on Monday morning. It was crazy hearing the weather and then looking outside to see white everywhere (usually snow is soft, calm, and beautiful...not violent sounding). At first, I had hoped it was snow, but after looking closer, it was just ice...EVERYWHERE.
It did give us the opportunity to stay at home where we snuggled up and watched movies (Barrett's favorites: CARS, Nemo, Monsters Inc., Incredibles, and Toy Story 3). We made it through CARS and part of Incredibles. The other movies are favorites of his and will have to be saved for antoher snow/ice/rainy day.
It was definitely a day of hot chocolate, not to mention a really good (healthy) chicken chili for supper.
As I was cooking, I took this video of Barrett. He was playing with his little Lego men and acting out his own scenario. Finally, I realized what he was saying. It's good to know he is thinking of Bible stories. Maybe he will grow up to share those stories with other people someday.
The story of David and Goliath
And this is where his new hiding place is. He gets our remote controls and aims them at me (making a shooting sound). Nice, right? We go from praying like a sweet, little Christian boy to a wild shooter. Hmmmm?!?!
Oh yeah, Matt and Barrett actually ventured out in Wylie to eat lunch with Barrett's BFF. The sun had come out and the roads had turned to slush...so we let Barrett meet up with Wyatt to let some energy out. They had a good time and Barrett took a decent nap afterwards. Play time always helps with that.

Stay warm everyone!!!!
