Mallory Mallory Mallory

Mallory has developed the sweetest personality, but she does have a sense of humor.  One thing that I have noticed about her that is completely different than Barrett (at this age), is that she is very observant.  For example, with Barrett, he would go and talk to almost anyone.  He would automatically smile and strike up a conversation.  Mallory on the other hand must study you before you get a smile or even a word out of her.
Now...once she is warmed up, she will babble, run, laugh, play, dance, and warm your heart.
She loves reading, jumping on the trampoline, dancing and singing, being outdoors, laughing and playing with her brother (that's at the top of the list), eats all table food (not a picky eater at all)babbles, loves shoes, loves climbing (on everything), recently took a huge interest in Micky Mouse Clubhouse, and has very sweet mannerisms.
She does say Dad, Mom, Bubba, dog, puppy, water, what, up, meme (that's also Minni), bye, star, and a few other words that we can make out clearly when she says them.
She's really good with her animal sounds.  Our favorites to listen to are the turkey sound and horsey sound.  They're hysterical.
I love watching her blow kisses, give hugs, and kiss us.
I can't imagine our world without Mallory.  She's such a blessing and JOY to us.

She does have a temper...and I don't blame her.  Lately she will point to the "cause" of her pain and say, "na-na", meaning no-no.  This pictures was when she was extremely upset about getting shots from the doctor.  It took her a few minutes to forget about it and was mad in this picture about that nurse...that building...and those pink band aids!!!  Not happy!!!

Barrett Barrett Barrett

Cheatham Elementary hosted its annual Fitness Night and we attended as a family.  We had a good time.

Kindergarten has 6th grade "buddies".  Barrett's buddy is Nate (Nathan) Brooks.  He was actually one of my students in fourth grade.  It's nice to know he is in good hands.  Barrett looks up to Nate and I think both have enjoyed getting to know one another.
Barrett is also friends with Cole Latos and Tanner Norris.  Both are also 6th graders.  They took Barrett in one day after school and played UNO with him.  Barrett thought that was the coolest thing in the world.  He still talks about it!!!
It's amazing how much of an impression these older students make on the smaller kids.  They have no idea.
It's that time of the year again!!!  Barrett and Matt loaded up once again to go see the Monster Truck / Monster Jam at the Dallas Cowboy Stadium.  This year, they went with Chris and Wyatt Martin.  Barrett had fun going with his buddy Wyatt and of course, with his Daddy!!!!

I absolute LOVE watching Barrett learn!!!  It's such a joy to see him read books and take interest into what he is reading.  Lately, he loves reading non-fiction text.  He's all about Science.  He has been coming home with library books about all types of creatures and animals.
Along with reading to us, he still enjoys listening to a good book.  I've got him hooked on Hank the Cow dog chapter books.  We read some Junie B. Jones books and he thought Junie was pretty funny.  Knowing that, I knew he'd love Hank.  Hank is a ranch dog (cow dog) with a sense of humor.  Barrett giggles when we read to him and asks all types of questions.  Since it is a chapter book and there aren't many pictures (except for a few sketches), I like knowing that Barrett is using his imagination and creating the scenes in his head!!!
As they were studying Texas history at school, one of our projects was to create a brand.  Here is what we came up with.

Here are some snapshots of Barrett and his friend Tyler.  Tyler is in Kindergarten at Barrett's school.  He has a different teacher...but his mom is Barrett's teacher, Mrs. Ritter.

Papa Barner entered a truck show with his 1953 Chevy truck.  Barrett and Matt went to see him.  Papa promised Barrett the winning trophy if he won.  Guess what...he DID win! haha

As I watch Barrett learn to read, I'm amazed at how much he has learned in writing this year.  I will say I've seen a huge improvement from the beginning of the year up to now!!!!  This is a rough draft of a book that he is creating.  We still have to do the illustrations for it, but eventually, the writing and illustrations will be binding into a hard cover book and kept in our library until he is a 6th grader.  I hope Barrett wants to write a book every year.  Won't that be a neat keepsake???  I think so!!!

January 2014

Mallory is obessed with putting on shoes!  No matter if they are too big or too small, you find her putting on Barrett's shoes, Daddy's shoes, Mommy's shoes, and dress up shoes!!!  It is shoe PALOOZA around here!
Recently, we were in Target and I thought I would get some boots for Mallory.  While trying them on, she went crazy!  I couldn't get the boots on her fast enough, and then...when they were too small (or not fitting right), I would try to take them off and he would scream!
After finding the correct size, I didn't even waste energy on taking them off.  I literally strolled up to the check out (with the tags and stretchy cord connecting both boots together) as they were on her feet!

Happy New Years
This year we had our friends over to our place to watch football and celebrate the end of 2013.  It was a great way to bring in the new year together.

Merry Christmas 2013
We continued with our new tradition of opening gifts the night before Christmas with just our little family of four.  Barrett was excited to give Mallory a stuffed puppy from Build-a-Bear Workshop.  He and I had gone to the mall a few days earlier and made "Pete" by stuffing the body full of fluff, putting a special heart inside of it, and even a electronic box in Pete's paw that makes him bark.
Along with Pete the puppy, Mallory received:
Hand made blanket from Aunt Brandi, a doll with matching outfits, a kitchen, Minnie Mouse electronic car, Minnie Mouse, books, Little People castle, a shopping cart, and Minnie Mouse vacuum cleaner, a fold out couch, clothes, and other little girl accessories.
Barrett was given  a special hand made blanket by Aunt Brandi too!  Along with it, he received a lot of games (checkers, UNO, travel size Connect Four, and Sorry), Dreamworks Dragons, a Nerf Gun, a mini basketball goal, coloring books, books (Hank the Cowdog), and our favorite...Spider Man cowboy boots!!!!!
Even though the many of Christmas is nothing about gift giving (or getting), we were very blessed.
I.AM.BLESSED!  God has given me such a wonderful life!!!
