Halloween Playdate

Taren was so nice to invite some of the babies over for a Halloween get together this week. Barrett was the only little boy there, and I think he enjoyed seeing all the pretty girls! We enjoyed meeting new friends and playing with all the little ones there.
The actual PHOTO session didn't go over very well, but at least we "tried". Barrett ended up hating his bulky spider outfit. I think it was a little tighter on him than when we had first bought it. He was having a difficult time staying "happy" with the hoody and cap attached to him. Too much material!!!! And of course none of the babies would look at the camera at the same time. But hey, what do you expect from two 5 month old babies, one 6 month, a 7 month and a 9 month old?????
All in all, we had a wonderful time. Barrett became MUCH happier after the clothes were removed and a a bottle was made!

All the moms had fun talking about their experiences and sizing up the kids. Athough Barrett is one of the youngest...he compares well in size!!!!

Papa's Party

Barrett was invited to his Papa's birthday this week. We had a great time catching up with cousins, Gramsey, Aunt Krista, Uncle Bobert, and of course Papa. I think Papa had to take the backseat for his own party though, because Barrett's cousins, Lauren and Jackson, were so excited to see him! Cousin Lauren is a "natural". She played with him the entire time and even rocked him to sleep!

There isn't a picture of it yet...but Papa and Gramsey bought Barrett the cutest little Nemo puppet. Barrett loved it!!!!! How did they know that was his favorite????

Just a swing'en

Matt brought home Barrett a little gift today. It was a swing for outside. He loves it. I can't wait to use it on the nice weather days!!!

Growing like a weed...

Barrett is seriously growing like a weed. I broke down and bought a scale to keep here at the house. Matt didn't want me to because he knew I would be the one on it constantly, but having it here, we can easily weigh Barrett on a regular basis and keep track of his weight gain.
I laughed last night when Matt busted out the tape measure to configure Barrett's stats. At a 5 months, he's weighing in at 19.5 lbs and 28 1/2 inches long!
He's developing the cutest personality. He smiles nonstop, laughs outloud, and babbles constantly.
I just can't get enough of him!!!! Having a baby has changed my entire life. I wake up every day anxious to see him and discover what he will do next!!!!
Here are a few photos from the past week.
This was a late night picture before bedtime
Matt and Barrett using the exercise ball
We're working on crawling...
Love to hear those giggles!!!

Happy Boy

I love Barrett's smile! He may look like his daddy, but he acts so much like me! The main thing that he does all the time is smile (just like his mama). I can't imagine a day without seeing that beautiful expression on his face. When I go to bed at night, I literally want the night to go by quickly so that I can see him again!!!! He makes my world complete!

Gym Class

Thanks to Taren, Matt and I decided to let Barrett participate in a class at ASI Gymnastics this weekend. Taren had mentioned that Camdyn was going to attend, so we felt safe that Barrett would know a familiar face...and that we (Matt and I) might learn a few things to challenge Barrett at home.
As we showed up, we realized Cam was the ONLY face! Thank goodness he had his little girlfriend there to make him feel welcome.
The two babies have really started to notice one another. I think they spent more time watching each other (or reaching for one another) than actually paying attention to the "instructor".
I didn't really know what to expect from the class and I'm still trying to decided if I want to continue going every Saturday...or wait until Barrett is a few months older to start paying for classes.
The BEST part about the whole thing is that I sat there soaking up all the things the instructor was doing. Matt laughed when we got into the car. He knew I was bound and determined to get home immedicately and start making my own "educational" flashcards and games.
I guess being a teacher you learn to steal ideas. ha ha The person I feel sorry for is Sherry. I'll be giving her so many things to start doing with the babies...that she is SURE to think I'm crazy!

Ducky Tub

Since Barrett demands to sit up all the time and won't lay back in his old "baby tub", I've been dealing with how to handle his slippery little body when it is bath time. He can't quiet sit up on his own just yet, so the bath chairs that you can place in an ordinary tub are too "advanced" for him at the moment.
Thanks to my friend Diana, she told me to buy Mr. Rubber Ducky Tub! That way...if he happens to fall backwards, he will land on a softer surface.
Barrett couldn't wait to test it out. He wanted inside of it before I had it blown up!!!
The actual ducky-tub with water in it, went well. I made the mistake of putting a little toy in it and Barrett kept trying to bend over and chase it...so I struggled with holding him upright. Oh well......he had a good time splashing and playing.
(Mom...what have you bought me now????)

"Alright...let's see if I can ROCK the boat!"

"Yeee-haw...let's test this ducky in real water!!!"

"Yikes...I hope this thing doesn't come to life!!!!"
(You should hear the tub...it will literally quack by pressing it's beak)

TX vs. OU game

This is for all you Texas Longhorn fans!!!!!! Congrats on winning today!!! What a game!

(excuse the drool...we just can't help it)

Yummy

Okay, so we started cereal a few weeks ago and it was a horrible experience. Barrett gagged, cried, and refused to eat it.
"Never give up" rang in my ears as I continued to cram rice cereal into his little mouth. Honestly, I don't blame him for not eating it. Not only does it have a completely different texture, but after trying a small sample myself...I could understand why he chose to want a bottle over a spoon.
Since I'm not a pro at motherhood (yet anyway), I had several family members and friends tell me to mix in some applesauce. WOW...what a difference it made! To all that gave me that advice.........THANK YOU!
He is really putting on the lbs!!!!! We haven't had an official "weigh-in", but I can assure you from holding and carrying him around, that he is definitely gotten much bigger!!!!

This is a clip of him eating. Realize that he had just finished drinking a 5 oz bottle...and still wanted more. I know, I know...he is going to eat just like his daddy!!!

Bubble Machine

Barrett started something new this week. He literally has turned into a "Bubble Machine". It has been our entertainment lately...and his too! He seems to do it all the time. I've decided that it doesn't do much good to give him his medicine anymore. He just spits it out (usually blowing it towards my face). Barrett seems to think it's the funniest thing in the world.Maybe he's doing this because he's about to get a tooth! Ya never know?!?!

Homecoming in Throckmorton

I guess you could call Barrett a SUPERSTAR! He made his first debut in the Throckmorton Homecoming parade -ha ha It was a doooozey! I'll bet all 900 people of Throckmorton County were there!
Barrett isn't quiet old enough to ride in the little seats behind the tractor, but he was able to ride up front with Papa Barrett! Meme Barrett and Matt were standing on the street side, cheering him on!

Afterwards, we went back to Meme and Papa's house to play. Meme introduced Barrett to a new game! He loves playing "Horsey" on Meme's legs!!!! What a great workout!

The entire weekend at my parent's house was a blast. I miss my family so much.
I enjoyed visiting with them and letting them play with Barrett. They were amazed at how much he as grown and how strong he is!
