Fun at the Park

Over the break, Barrett had a chance to play at the park. He loved it! He fed the ducks, played on all the playground equipment (going down slides for the first time and crawling through tunnels) and even got down and dirty in the gravel! As you can imagine, the rocks found their way into his mouth, but I caught them just in time. I didn't want the few teeth that he has to be broken! Boy oh boy!

Barrett thought he was "big stuff" crawling through the tunnels and peeking out at me.

I was a little nervous about this particular duck. I didn't want him pecking my baby, but Aunt Brandi kept Barrett safe. (ha ha - Notice how far back my nieces were)

First Trip to the Zoo

Okay...for once my child isn't smiling. I don't know if he was wondering what we were about to do...or if it was the hat I placed on his head, that was bothering him. He does have a serious look on his face though, right?

We took Barrett on his first trip to the zoo Monday. We had such a fun time. The weather was amazing, and it was so nice to spend the entire day with my perfect little family.
Barrett was such a good boy. He was seriously stimulated by everything going on around him (animals, children, sounds, and smells). I can tell this trip was the beginning of many more!
This was my FAVORITE part. We bought some bird seed and entered the "bird cage" to feed all the little birds. They literally ate from the palm of our hands. Barrett thought is was hilarious! He even tried grabbing a couple of them, but luckily...they got away!

Big Boy Haircut

Although we're two months shy of being ONE year old, Matt and I came to terms with the fact that Barrett was in serious need of a haircut. I must say though, he has beautiful hair!!!
We drove downtown Wylie, where we found Wright's Barber Shop. It was a the real deal. Wooden floors, swivel chairs, and even your typical little old men were inside! It was perfect!

Barrett was such a big boy. He sat up on the little barber booster seat and held perfectly still....until the electric clippers were turned on. Overall, he did a great job. I'm sure the next cut won't be too far from now.

Side story....
You know how I mentioned that there were little, old men inside the barber shop (giving it the full effect)? Well, there was a gentleman named Raymond Cooper (founder of Cooper Jr. High School here in Wylie, TX). He stood and watched Barrett as he was getting his haircut. I noticed the man walking out of shop, but he soon returned back inside. He walked right up to Barrett and handed him a silver dollar. He told Barrett that he needed a prize for doing such a good job.

My heart melted! Not only was this a very sweet man, but he also reminded me of my grandfather, Raymond Kovar. I sure wish he was around to see Barrett now.
We will be keeping that silver dollar too. It's tucked away inside Barrett's baby book, right along side of his first curls.

Laugh Attack

Matt had Barrett laughing the other night so I had to capture it on video, (mainly because the sound of it is just so adorable).
I'm telling you, his little personality is really starting to SHINE!

Where's the light?

I've been trying to teach Barrett to point...or at least look in the directions of particular objects. So far, we've learned light. He doesn't say, "light", but anytime I mention a word, he looks directly at the light.
Now sometimes, he has little conversations with the light. I don't know if he is talking to the light, or about it.
All I've managed to capture is a picture. When I turn on the video camera, he quits talking as much. I'll catch him in the act sooner or later.

Graham Time

This past Sunday we drove into Graham to visit Barrett's great grandparents and his KK. We also had the pleasure of seeing Aunt Gail and Uncle Larry.
They were all surprised at how much Barrett had grown. On top of that, they were able to witness first hand at his ability to grab at every object in sight, bang on the furniture (even the glass table tops), and crawl like the wind! We all had a hard time keeping up with him!
We had a fabulous visit. It was good to see everyone.

Cam Cam

I just couldn't help but post this adorable picture of Barrett and Camdyn. I think they're having a serious discussion. Sherry might have to keep a close eye on them. They just might be planning a secret GET AWAY!!!!
I'm so glad they have one another to play with every day. Otherwise, it might be a lonely little world.
We love you Cam!!!!

Best of Friends

Matt and Barrett are the best of friends. They play so hard in the afternoons, and after his morning bottle, they have a routine of hanging out on the couch and watching Blues Clues. Yes, Matt no longer gets to watch Deadliest Catch or Hot Rod T.V.
They truly adore each other. It's the cutest thing when Matt walks into the room with Barrett. Barrett grins from ear to ear, straightens out his legs and squeals with delight!!! He loves his daddy!!!!
