Bathtub Crayons

We love our bathtub crayons. Not only are we learning our shapes, but we practice drawing them in the tub!
(Next on the agenda is sidewalk chalk).

I will have to admit, Barrett is starting to be a little WILD in the tub. The past two times we've taken a bath, he stands up and hops! After a couple of hops, he thinks it's funny to just jump straight up land on his hiney! Ouch (I would think), but he keeps doing it. I just know he's going to fall backwards OR completely out of the tub. Not a safe thing to do in the tub!!!
This is him sliding down the backside of the tub as if it were a slide!

Buddy

The Martins came over to visit us on Friday night. It was perfect "patio weather", and the boys had such a blast playing together. We grilled steaks and veggies, while the boys played outside and practiced hunting Easter eggs.
I know Barrett plays well with all of his little classmates, and he can even point them out and tell you their names..... however, Wyatt is his favorite buddy, and having him over to play, totally made Barrett's day (entire weekend actually).
They played so hard, and managed to stay awake until 10:00. You could tell they were exhausted, but just wouldn't give up!
Saturday morning, Barrett woke up asking about Wyatt and looking around the house for him. What a super-duper Friday!!!!

Tag

TAGGED...
I was tagged by Debbie. This is how the "game" works.
1.Open your very first photo folder on your computer.
2.Scroll down to the tenth picture in that folder and write a post about it.
3.Then, choose 5 other people to TAG

This is picture of my good friends, Megan and Nicole. Over our summer break, we had a girl's night at Gloria's resturaunt. This was the summer before I became pregnant with Barrett, Nicole was about to be the new assistant principal at Dodd, and Megan was moving away to a different school in Rockwall.
I love these girls!!!!
I tag...................Megan Smith, Jennifer, Bree, Channa, and Dewawn

Spring Break 2010

My Spring Break has flown by! Here is a quick update. (I say it is quick, but you all know how I can ramble on). I'll try to make it quick.

  • Two date nights with Matt. Mi Cocina (date night #1) and our kitchen table (date night #2).
  • Baby ducks sent home with Barrett from Meme and Papa's house. Actually, they were given to Barrett from Aunt Brandi, but I know my daddy had everything to do with it (the initial idea came from him). Barrett has enjoyed the ducks and he's even kind of protective of them (he constantly says, "My ducks, my ducks"), but as you know...I'm the one cleaning up after them.
  • Lots of play time, park time, walking time, stroller time, and GOOD times with Barrett. I love him so much!!!
  • Lunch date with Matt (Barrett and I love meeting Matt for lunch when he is working). It's one of our highlights during the summer time.
  • Went to see Dear John with my friend, Debbie. We bawled our eyes out! Unfortunately, we didn't have any Kleenex, but if we did...we would have gone through the entire box!!!
  • Read a novel by Nicholas Sparks, The Last Song (same author of the Notebook and Dear John). Loved the book and I can't wait to see the movie at the end of this month! I won't forget the box of Kleenex this time. I needed it as I read the book, so I might just bring a couple of EXTRA boxes to the theatre!!!!!
  • Shopping. I think Barrett has officially hit the stage where he doesn't like to shop with his mommy. He's a boy. I should have realized shopping was going to be a bad idea.
  • It all started when he refused to leave the fountain area ("water fall" as he calls it). After coaxing him with a variety of sweet treats, I managed to get him closer to the exiting doors of the mall. That's when he spotted the shiny, red, CAR (you know, the ones that you insert change into and lasts a couple of seconds before shutting down?). He didn't care if you had to put money into it or not. He wanted to play in it forever! I literally had to pry him off of the car, which certainly didn't make him happy. Don't forget...I'm ALONE and he's not a small 22 month old. He was horizontal in my left arm, arched back, kicking and screaming. Meanwhile, I've got bags falling off my shoulder, a purse, and a stupid umbrella stroller that I'm trying to maneuver through the aisles. It wasn't very pleasant to watch. People were stopping and staring. I knew what they were thinking...("Girl, you need to get that under control). I will say this........it was all my fault. I pushed Barrett to his limits. He was a wonderful shopper with me until he got tired. I should have left the mall much earlier around his original nap time, but instead I kept shopping. I'm sorry little buddy!!! Next time, you can ride those toys for as long as you want.
  • Cleaned house
  • Ran...but made a lot (and I stress a lot) of bad eating choices. It's time to get back on track, but when you're at home, it's so easy to "cheat" on a diet!
  • Hair cuts
  • Attended a birthday party for Ella. I can't believe our "babies" are all turning TWO!!!!

Zoo Time

It's crazy how fast Barrett has grown up. The first time we visited the zoo, B couldn't walk, and honestly, I don't think he really understand the concept of which animals were what...nor did he really care.
This year, it was a whole different story. He knew almost all the animals and loved watching their every move. He loved crawling up on the fences / cages (which made me a little nervous), and when he kissed the glass of the turtle's viewing area...it was all I could do to keep from sanitizing his mouth (with what...I don't know). But, I realize he is ALL BOY and a little dirt/germs won't hurt!
Loved, loved, loved, our trip to the zoo. It was great weather and the fact that we were able to meet up with Meme and Papa Barrett was even better. We just might have to invest in getting season passes.

Feeding the birds was one of our favorite moments. Barrett had a little stick with bird seeds on it, and as you can see, he was thrilled to feed the birds.
Shortly after I took these pictures, Barrett decided to try a little bird seed for himself. He literally stuck the stick into his mouth like it was a sucker.
(I was kind of hoping that he would fly this morning...but it didn't happen). ha ha

Bed Toys

Barrett is obsessed with taking toys to bed with them. No, they're not your cute, little, soft, stuffed animals. Instead, they're things like metal Hot Wheels, Little People (tractor and trailer) or his big John Deere.
(Picture Matt rocking him with that big tractor)

Matt and I have to rock him to sleep while he is holding these toys. The funny thing is, you never know what he is going to want until the very last minute. I'm a little afraid about sending him to stay overnight with relatives because I might not pack the right toy for that particular night.
Friday night, Barrett insisted on sleeping with his shoes on. Matt and I decided to choose our battles and let them fall asleep with them on. I snuck into his room for a quick picture, then took them off.
(Debbie...check out which shoes they are - Caiden should be proud)
And check out this sweet little imagination. He did this all on his own while I was cleaning house Saturday.
Barrett definitely has a mind of his own.
Lately, his favorite words are, "my turn", "mine"and "move". Ha (I really shouldn't be laughing).
We went to the Ft. Worth Zoo on Saturday. Those posts will be coming soon :)

Warm Weather = Good Times

FINALLY...the weather has been nice enough to be outside! We've loved it. Barrett and I squeezed in some "egg hunting" practice this week. Let me just tell you that we've decided to ditch the old kiddie Easter basket and go for the "real deal". Check out the pictures.
Imagine us showing up to our church's annual Easter egg hunt with this purdy basket! ha ha We would definitely be taking a load of eggs home with us, (much more than what we could fit in a little, old kiddie basket...that's for sure)!!!!!!
Since there was sunshine, we paid a visit to the park today. I can tell we'll be hanging out here more often. Barrett had a really good time and even socialized with some of the other kids that were there. He kept saying, "Hi guys" to kids that were playing on the equipment or waiting to slide. Then he would turn around and say, "Bye Mommy" (as if I'm going to let that child out of my sight!!!!)

We've also started playing Hide-and-Go-Seek with the laundry basket. He's always loved this basket! Why don't we all start buying things like this for baby showers and birthdays? Don't be surprised it I don't show up to some of the upcoming birthday parties with laundry baskets and Tupperware!
What can I say............maybe he's been watching to many episodes of Franklin.
