Around the House

Wow!  I can't believe school has started and my baby girl is 3 weeks old!!!!  Mallory weighs 8 lbs. 9oz. and is our beautiful little sweetheart!!!!  Barrett seems to have enjoyed his first week back to school, but continues to take advantage of the afternoons with his friends next door (Ellie and Addison).  We're glad it is still staying light until 8:00, because sooner than later, it's bound to begin getting darker early (and our day light time will shorten).
Barrett is so in love with Mallory!  Every day after school he hops in the car and talks to her, kisses on her, and holds her hand.  In the evenings, he continues to love on her in such a sweet way!  I love it.
I'll continue to say this...because I feel it....I. AM. BLESSED!!!!!!

Barrett / Mommy Date

This post actually comes before "Barrett is Back to School" because last Friday, I had the pleasure of getting out of the house with my favorite little boy for some food and fun!  Since Mallory has arrived, Barrett and I haven't had much time to ourselves.  We're not use to that!!!!
Matt came home from work, and Barrett and I hit the road by driving up to Gatti Town.  We watched the big movie screen while eating our yummy pizza, then headed for the arcade / game room area where we played Ski-Ball, Whack-A-Mole, Crane games, Air Hockey (our favorite), and even a few rounds of bowling!!!!  It was a blast.  I don't know who enjoyed it more, me...or Barrett.

Barrett is BACK to SCHOOL

Today we took Barrett back to preschool (August 27, 2012).  He was ready.  Believe it or not, I was excited for him.  I feel like he's been such a great helper and adjusting so well to Mallory, however, he needs some time with his friends.
Our morning started by getting up (a little earlier than usual), getting dressed in our school uniforms (requirement for this year at Primrose for Pre-K), brushed our teeth, combed our hair, and headed out for a morning treat to Big D Donuts!  We love this little "hole in the wall" donut place.  They practically know Barrett and Matt by their first names.
After a dozen donut holes and a big class of milk, it was time to head to school.
We walked back into Primrose, and he acted as though he never left for the summer.  This kid didn't skip a beat.  He walked right into his classroom, said his good-byes to Matt, Mallory, and I, and joined his friends.  He was especially happy to see his buddy Pierce!!!!
Mallory and I are missing him in during the day, but I know he is well taken care of and enjoying himself.

2 Weeks with Mallory

Time is flying by!  I just wish I could slow it down a bit or set the clocks back.  I'm not ready for my baby to grow up.
We've already experienced TWO wonderful weeks with Miss Mallory.  She sleeps quite a bit, but when she is awake, brother Barrett has a fun talking to her and singing to her.  We've all been calling her, "Pretty Girl"!!!!
Mallory loves her bottles and isn't very fond of a pacifier.  She usually spits it right out and goes for her hands.  I just know (like myself as a child) she is going to find that THUMB of hers!

Newborn Pictures

Here are some of the newborn pictures we captured of Mallory.  I love the one with little angel wings.  I think they all turned out beautiful.

One Week with Mallory Brook

Here's to our first week with Miss Mallory Brook!  What a ray of sunshine she is.
This week, we've spent a lot of time hugging, kissing, and playing dress up with our baby girl, while big brother Barrett entertains with puppet shows, singing to Mallory, and helping with diaper changes and feeding!!!  He really is a big help!!!  I've always needed an "extra pair of hands" to get a wipe, throw away a diaper, grab a burp cloth, take the lid off a bottle, or bring me a pacifier.  What do ya know....I have that now!!!!
At Mallory's one week check up, she had gained 8 ounces!!!  Wow!  Even the doctor was impressed.
I'm so blessed and look forward to the next few weeks I have with her before going back to school.

Barrett starts back to school next week.  I'm going to miss him so much, but I know (especially with all the time I'm devoting to Mallory as a newborn) that he needs this opportunity to get his energy out, learn, play, and socialize with his friends!!!
I'm even in the process of signing him up for t-ball!!!!
