Yep, we're walking. He's still a little wobbly, but every day he continues to get better. I'm super proud of him. Watch out world, cause here we come!

Oh No....That's Too Much!
Knowing that Barrett was due for another haircut, we took him to the barber shop this morning, but it was full of men and Barrett was in no mood to sit and wait. With that being said, we just decided to take him somewhere "simple", like Super Cuts. Matt usually gets his hair cut there, and being a boy, I thought to myself...there is no way they can really "go wrong" with a little boy's haircut.
No matter what, I think my baby is cute....but oh my goodness, she cut soooooo much hair! I was very close to telling her to STOP!
It makes Barrett look totally different to me! I can't quite tell if he looks older or younger...but one thing is for sure...this child is the son of Matt Barner! I think he looks more like Matt now than he ever has before! Wow!!!
Part of me already misses his little locks of hair. I use to comb them over to the side for him. Now, I have nothing to comb. I'm sad. Oh well, I guess it's a good cut for the summer.
Matt told me he looks like he is ready to join the military.

Finally Forward
Today, we turned Barrett's car seat around. I just couldn't take it anymore knowing that he was cramped in the back seat facing in a direction where he couldn't see out. He could barely even stretch his long legs before, but now they practically dangle off the edge!
He loves it. Although we haven't traveled very far in the past hour...we did go for a ride up to Taco Bell just to see his initial reaction to facing forward!!!!
Before we turned the seat around, Matt wanted to read the instructions on how to properly install the seat in the forward position. Barrett was such a good helper. He read the steps to his daddy. Yes, Barrett read them!!! He coached his daddy the whole way through. As you can see, he was extremely serious about these step by step directions. He wanted it to be perfect, safe, and correct. Now WHO does that sound like????

Spring Pictures!!!!
We had some spring pictures made with Ms. Tena a few weeks ago. She considered having live chickens and bunnies as props, but ended up getting stuffed pets that looks similar to being real.....thank goodness (as you'll see in one of the pictures below)!!!!!

Real Deal
Barrett is slowly but surely refusing to eat baby food from a jar. He's turning a new leaf. Little by little, I've let him try bits and pieces of the "real deal". I don't think there will be any turning back.
His favorite is Velveeta Mac and Cheese! But he also liked the carrots and potatoes from the roast I cooked the other night. Yes you all......................I COOKED A ROAST! And, we're all still alive!!!!

We've tried bread, black beans, peas, carrots, french fries, mac & cheese, noodles with butter, cheese cubes, sliced turkey, and random bites from restaurants that we dine. Who knows what his favorites will be. If he is anything like me, it will be along the "sweet side" of things!
On top of that........we mimick more and more each day. His new word is "uh-oh". He's learning to drop things on purpose just so he can say it.
Latest words:
duck
mama
da-da
deee
uh-oh
ouch

Happy Easter
The Easter Bunny came to see us! Yipee!!! So much fun. And best of all...Barrett was up at 5:30 am to see him!!! Our favorite treat was not candy, but instead a baseball bat in the shape of a carrot. We just have to set some guidelines on what is okay and NOT okay to hit (such as our flat screen, windows, or people).
We headed to church in Farmers Branch. I tried to keep Barrett in the sanctuary with us because he was dressed so cute, but needless to say, within minutes I was hauling him to baby Bible class. I think it all worked out for the best (or at least that's what the people sitting behind us thought).

Happy Easter to everyone!!! God bless you all.
Oh...a bat. Ummm What should I hit first?
Bluebonnets
Matt found us a beautiful field of bluebonnets to take pictures in this weekend. You should have seen us out in the middle of the field. We were jumping around trying to get Barrett's attention, but he was more interested in how the flowers felt...and tasted.

Gramsey and Papa Barner
Barrett spent the day with Gramsey and Papa Barner on Wednesday. They has such a great time. Barrett got a ton of kisses from their two doggies and was spoiled rotten by all the entertainment.
I think Barrett was having so much fun, that he forgot about sleeping. I laughed at Paul when he dropped him off because he said that Barrett had been going 90 mph since waking up from his one and only nap at 11:30 am. Needless to say, Barrett slept great through the night, and I'll bet Papa and Gramsey did too!

Play Time
Barrett plays so well by himself. I'm amazed at his imagination. I absolutely LOVE watching him when he is consumed in his toys at playtime. He talks and talks and seems to be in his own little world. Unless there is a loud distraction, he pretty much stays content on playing with his little animals and cars.
Lately, the cutest thing he does is take out a car from his toy pile and begin making his car noise. So sweet.
Here are a few clips from today's play time.
He isn't aware that I am taking a video at first, but when he does realize it...he doesn't seem to mind, so I kept filming.
Barrett loves playing in the window. We can't wait for the nice weather, soft green grass to play in, and the wind to stop blowing, so that we can play outside!
*You might want to scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit pause on my playlist, so that you can hear him better.
This is a short clip of him playing with his little car. He knows exactly what to do with it, and how it sounds.
Finally, we have pee-a-boo time. He actually does it a lot better than this...but it was getting close to nap time and so he didn't continue doing it for as long as he usually does. It's enough to get the point across though.

Baby Dedication
The ceremony for Barrett's baby dedication was beautiful. We are truly blessed to be part of such a wonderful church family. I know with the love and support of each person at Farmer's Branch, we will be able to instill the Christian values into Barrett's life.
There were two blessing read to us. One directed towards Matt and I as parents, and another blessing for Barrett. I loved them both.

Parent's Blessing
As a church, we promise to walk alongside you as you raise your child to live, love, and lead like Jesus. We promise to uphold you in prayer as you teach your child the amazing truths of our Savior. We pray that in keeping with Deuteronomy 6, you inundate your child in the words of God, making Him the foundation of your family. We pray you will lead your child into their own personal faith in Christ and model for them the reality of the full life we all have in Jesus. We join you today in asking for God's blessing on your family as you start this journey. Together, we stand in excitement and anticipation to see how the Lord will use your child to further His Kingdom.Barrett's Blessing
Child of God, you are a blessing to us, and we now bless you. Always remember that you are made in the image of GOD! You are His, always seen, and forever loved. We pray that the Lord will give you joy and peace. We pray that as you grow, your faith and knowledge of your creator will grow, and that you will choose to live a life committed to Jesus. We pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ my dwell in your heart through faith. And we pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together will all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses to the measure of all the fullness of God.After the ceremony and church service, the whole family went out to eat at Salt Grass (yum yum). It was nice to visit with everyone and we appreciated them traveling over the miles to share this special day with us.
These books are incredible. The first one is impossible to tear up...so I know it will last a long time. It's the story of Noah, and Barrett loves the animal pictures inside. The second one is 100 Bibles stories along with a CD of 100 songs that accompany each story.

So Far Behind...
I feel like I am so far behind in blogging. I apologize for not having more updates.
We've had Barrett's baby dedication (last weekend), spring snapshots, pink eye, our first ear infection, and our first real "fever"...along with getting sick (all over daddy, mommy, and the carpet). Ahhhhh!!
On top of that, I broke my camera. I accidentally dropped it on the table and unfortunately, it died. I'm lost without it. You know I used that thing on a daily basis. I guess it's time to bite the bullet and go buy a new one.
Here are a few of the videos I managed to save. They're just little clips of some of the cute little things Barrett does.
By no means is Barrett a naughty little boy, but we've had to tell him "no-no" lately because he thinks it's fun to hit things (our faces and our flat screen t.v.). Therefore, we automatically say, "no-no". Well, he caught on to that pretty fast. He thinks it is funny to say "no-no".
He's driving this little thing all over the place.
When my mom and dad came to visit, they put Barrett behind it and he took off! He walked clear across the living room floor until he hit the wall. I had no idea he could do that!
Now he drives it everywhere!!! Toys, furniture, and people don't seem to get into his way. He bulldozes right over them. The walls are the only thing stopping this kid.
