Weekend Get-away

Since it was a "long weekend", Matt and I decided to take a trip to my parent's in Throckmorton. When we first planned the weekend get-away, Matt thought he might be able to go dove hunting with my brother-in-law, Corey, but "opening day" fell on a Monday, and we were already in route back to Wylie.
The ride there was painless. I must admit that traveling with another person (Matt) makes things so much easier. I never really thought about it before, but when you have a baby in the car and it's just YOU...stopping for something as simple as a Coke or restroom break... is a major pain. You begin to think that you can survive withOUT liquids to avoid any stops later on down the road.
At least this time, I didn't have to haul Barrett in and out of nasty old bathrooms!!! Trust me...I've learned to appreciate clean changing tables, "family size" restrooms and that "extra pair of hands" helping me out!!!

My parents seriously have withdrawls from Barrett. My daddy just can't get enough of him. He thinks he is the only one that can really get Barrett to laugh.
Mom spoils him rotten. She even volunteered to take care of Barrett all through the night and into the morning (that means early morning feedings and all). On top of that, Matt and I had a night on the town and were able to sleep in until 9:00 am. Wow...I felt like a NEW person!!!

Barrett soaked up all the attention over the weekend. Once we got home, he was a tired little man and confused on what had happened to all the entertainment.

Televison Already???

I know it's probably not the best source of stimulation for a baby...but Barrett has found the television. He loves watching his Baby Faith videos and we recently discovered that he actually tuned in to the Olympics!!! No kidding! I hope he paid close attention to Micheal Phelps.

Now we can't stop him from watching t.v. He hears the sound and will literally turn his head until he can see the picture.

Tonight, he was watching a cartoon while Matt and I were eating. We could hear him squealing in the other room!

Cow Crazy

Okay........ so we have this stuffed animal (cow) that has never really been a favorite of mine. To be quiet honest, it sheds hair all over the place, and has been thrown into the bottom of Barrett's toy box since the day I brought it home from a baby shower. Basically, I never dreamed Barrett would like it much. Go figure...I was wrong. Not only does he like the black and white coloring of it, he loves the feel of it's fuzzy fur. He will actually grab at it and can hold onto it. Of course he wants to eat it...but as I said before, it sheds, therefore, I've been picking up black fur off the floor, off his blankets, off his clothes, and even off of his tongue.
Doesn't matter though. He's in love with it.

Back to School

Well, I'm officially back to work. Although I'm anxious to get started with a new school year and meet my new group of children, my heart breaks knowing I won't get to spend as much time with Barrett. He's growing up so fast and I can't stand the thought of missing out on the many milestones that he will achieve. I always took for granted the comment of, "They grow up fast", but now it's become an understatement.
I held a friend's baby girl the other day that was 3 weeks old / 9 lbs. She seemed so light and tiny compared to Barrett. It's crazy to think that just 3 months ago he was even smaller and weighed less.

The time I've spent with him this summer has been unforgettable. From the first time I saw him smile, to the touch of his little fingers wrapped around my own, has been the most amazing thing.
I feelings of being a parent are truly indescribable. I love him so much.

Lov'en on Mama

Since I've started back to work...I literally count the hours/minutes until I get to hold Barrett in my arms again. If there is ever a slow moment at school, Barrett and Matt are the two things that I'm thinking about.
As soon as I'm able to leave work, I'm headed straight to the baby sitter's to pick him up. Besides marrying Matt, Barrett has brought so much joy into my life. From this point on, I can't even imagine having a "bad" day. It's impossible when all you have to do to make it better is look into those precious brown eyes.

Kick'en it!

I think Barrett is finally realizing that he has legs!!! When we talk to him or when he gets really excited, he will kick and kick and kick! Now I see what was going on inside my belly when I was pregnant with him! Too adorable.

Barrett's BIG BOY shoes.

Action kicks! If he could actually stand up...I know he would be running!

Gramsey and Pa-Paul

We had the pleasure of seeing Pa-Paul and Gramsey this Sunday. I cooked chicken spaghetti for everyone. Imagine that...ME cooking! I guess I should have taken some pictures of the meal! ha ha
Barrett really enjoyed seeing his grandparents. Pa-Paul had Barrett grinning from ear to ear, especially when he would pretend to be sneezing. Barrett thought that was soooo funny. He also snuggled up close to Gramsey. She did a wonderful job of putting him to sleep for a nap.
